Our Daily Homeschool Routine

Implementing Consistency and Structure for My Four Kids

Wow! At the time of typing this, it has now been over a week since I rolled out this “routine chart” system and I truly cannot say enough good things about it! My kids have absolutely thrived and let me tell ya, it has made for one happy mama!

I won’t be typing out too much of the details because I explain it all in this YouTube video:

However, there were quite a few links mentioned so rather than bombard my YouTube description with links and explanations, I thought I would put them all into one tidy blog post.

ETSY PRINTABLE - DAILY ROUTINES

The Etsy printables that I purchased were from two different shops. The daily “morning, afternoon and evening” routine charts were from Crayonika. Honestly, there are SO many different kinds on Etsy, and if you are feeling intimidated by the whole “print, cut laminate, velcro dot” process, you could totally find a different format where all your child has to do is add a clothespin to the task once they’ve completed it. I just knew with my kids, any loose pieces would become toys and ultimately lost or broken;) We already had the laminator and other supplies, so this was a good fit for us.

The Crayonika downloads included “tasks” that weren’t quite what I was looking for. For example, I wanted to literally customize my children’s tasks to have a picture of their particular workbook, and have things like a picture of a Bernese Mountain Dog to remind my daughter to take care of our pup’s food and water bowls. If you want to also be extra like this, I’m sharing my Canva template for you HERE. I believe you need Canva premium for most of the graphics I used but you should be able to switch it up and use other graphics if you don’t have premium. Also, PLEASE NOTE that I am NOT suggesting our particular order of tasks for other families. That would be absurd if your life looked identical to mine - in other words, it doesn’t haha. So my recommendation is to actually sit and try and come up with what you want your tasks to be, possibly even without using a “morning afternoon and evening” but maybe just two or even one, depending on the age of your child(ren).

ETSY PRINTABLE - BEHAVIOR CHARTS

The daily behavior chart happened to work perfect with having 21 empty spaces, so we can do three “stars” per day for all 7 days of the week. Alternatively, we might skip weekends and have ways to earn “extra stars” throughout the week. This “good behavior chart” concept really is the icing on the cake for my kids. The LOVE getting to move their star over after completing one of their charts. On the flip side, they loathe when I tell them they might “lose a star” when their behavior is not… ideal. Again, there are SO many different behavior charts out there and many of which you don’t need a laminator and velcro dots, but we went with RikiTikArt.

Another resource I mentioned in the video…

…was this YouTube video about homeschooled children needing structure. Highly recommend you watch - she has so many great videos!

Happy Holy Home

Lastly, of course I raved and raved about my program, Happy Holy Home which you can learn all about here or if you’re just ready to pull the trigger and purchase, you can do so here!
